Getting Started:
So what is needed?

As noted, it can be simplicity itself to start up using the ASP model. Below are the two options Local Server and the simpler ASP.
For the local server model, you will be looking at setting up, running and maintaining a MySQL database networked system. The requirements are listed below:

Local Server model:

  1. Broadband Internet (to allow for remote support). *
  2. Admin PC located in a secure area. *
  3. Booking station – PC with a USB bar code scanner. *
  4. A lighting interface/controller module (controls up to 8 courts). **
  5. Network cabling and relays to the lights. *
  6. A door controller module along with card reader. **
  7. Magnetic door locks. *
  8. A Linux or Wintel Based server. *
  9. A MySQL database license. *
  10. Data Backup and redundancy facilities in accordance with your needs. *

ASP model:

  2. Admin PC located in a secure area. *
  3. Booking station – PC with a USB bar code scanner. *

  6. A door controller module along with card reader. **
  7. Magnetic door locks. *
  8. Advantage of the ASP model:

  • No worry about data security (back up, virus attacks)
  • No need to maintain complex MySQL database server.
  • Optimal availability based on professionally supported powerful MySQL database servers.
  • Less money tied up in fast depreciating hardware.
